Today is Rare Disease Day — a global call to action for improving equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnoses and therapies for people living with a rare disease, including rare epilepsies.

Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological disease worldwide affecting approximately 3.4 million people in the U.S. However, when the underlying cause of epilepsy impacts fewer than 200,000 individuals, it is considered a rare epilepsy.

The rare epilepsy community faces diverse challenges, from genetic mutations leading to new diagnoses to variations in healthcare access across the U.S.

LOGOS - Rare Epilepsy Network, Project Echo, American Academy of Pediatrics

To address these needs, we recently partnered with the Rare Epilepsy Network (REN) and the American Academy of Pediatrics, to launch a Project Echo (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes). This unique learning framework allows peer health providers to share knowledge and support across disciplines.

For 2025, we are hosting, Bridging Genetic Diagnosis with Complex Care—a free, six-session ECHO series covering best practices for diagnosing, treating, and managing comorbidities in patients with rare epilepsies.
