Roger is one of 10 siblings, four of whom lived with epilepsy. "From a young age, my sister, Jeanette, struggled with the effects of epilepsy and the impact it had on every part of her personal and professional life. She struggled not just with the debilitating effects of the disease, but also with a lack of public awareness and understanding. She lost friends and jobs. But she was strong and carved out her own niche.

"Later in his life, my older brother, Ray, sadly had a similar battle with this disease. Two of my other siblings also had their own struggles with various forms of epilepsy."

In their honor, Roger and his family have championed initiatives that provide opportunities for children and teens, funding for their critical research, and advocacy in government. Supporting the Epilepsy Foundation is Roger's way of turning a negative into a positive.
