Independent Scholar and Adjunct Professor at both Teachers College, Columbia University and New York University, Emily Bailin Wells holds an Ed.D. in Communications and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and an M.S.Ed. in Education, Culture & Society from the University of Pennsylvania. Emily’s areas of interest and expertise are in critical media literacy, anti-racist and social justice pedagogies, and identity inquiry through multimodal storytelling. Emily’s research and work are focused mostly on young people specifically around their identities (how they think about themselves and others), their relationships to popular culture, their roles as media creators/producers and consumers.
